🏫 Important Update: Athletics Participation & Attendance Policy

Dear Families,

We want to inform you about recent updates to our attendance policy that directly affect student participation in athletics. These changes are designed to support academic accountability while ensuring that student-athletes meet eligibility requirements.

📌 What You Need to Know

Starting today, students will only be allowed to participate in athletic activities such as practices, games, matches, and meets if they meet attendance eligibility for that day. Coaches will receive daily attendance reports and a list of students who are not eligible to participate.

🚫 Not Eligible for Athletics

Students will not be allowed to participate in athletics if they are marked with any of the following attendance codes for one or more periods (unless noted):

  • APT (Appointment) for 2 periods or more*

  • A (Absent)

  • ILL (Illness)

  • MHD (Mental Health Day)

  • FEM (Family Emergency)

  • HSP (Hospital)

  • INJ (Injury)

  • SKP (Skipped Class)

  • VAC (Vacation)

  • SSP (Suspended)

✅ Eligible for Athletics

Students are cleared to participate if marked with any of the following codes:

  • APT (Appointment) for 2 periods or less*

  • CLV (College Visitation)

  • SEV (School Event)

  • FRL (Funeral)

  • FTP (Field Trip)

  • ISA (In-School Appointment)

  • RH (Religious Holiday)

  • TST (Testing)

*Please note: Appointments must be pre-arranged at least 24 hours in advance to be excused. If a student is marked for an appointment lasting 3 or more periods, they will not be eligible to participate in athletics that day.

⏰ Attendance Habits to Watch

If your student frequently receives the following codes, it may impact their eligibility and academic performance. We encourage you to speak with them about arriving to class on time:

  • L (Late)

  • LAT (More than 20 minutes late)

  • UX (Late, Unexcused)

  • LX (Late, Excused)
